This Brief focuses on a very important factor for achieving sustainable agriculture development in the Caribbean – access to improved germplasm. It was prepared based on the activities implemented under the Intra-ACP Agriculture Policy Programme (APP) Caribbean Action, including studies on the harmonization of protocols for movement of plant and animal germplasm across the Caribbean Region, the experiences of Regional technicians receiving germplasm training in Fiji, and field trials and training to improve the transfer and adoption of improved germplasm production and utilisation technologies. The APP was funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF).

PB#3 Rebuilding AgriPlanning

This Policy Brief highlights the importance of building capacity for planning into agriculture as an important base for ‘getting implementation right’. Strong planning capacity is also essential to establish a firm platform for growth in agriculture at all levels, including individual countries and for the CARICOM Region as a whole. It was prepared based on the experiences of the Intra-ACP Agriculture Policy Programme (APP) Caribbean Action, funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF).
